This past year, most of my dreams have cracked wide open.
Ideas I believed in deeply failed—quickly, sometimes painfully. Plans I poured my heart into didn’t return what I hoped for. I’ve had to pick up the pieces, more than once, and decide what’s worth gluing back together.
And here’s what I’ve learned:
Healing isn’t about not breaking. It’s about continuing to try even after we do.
The myth of constant progress is loud in our culture. We’re told if something breaks—businesses, bodies, relationships—we must’ve done something wrong. But that’s not always true. Sometimes things just fall apart. Even the most carefully crafted paths can’t hold the weight of life.
But there’s beauty in that breaking too—if we let it be.
I keep coming back to the Japanese art of Kintsugi, where broken pottery is repaired with gold. The fractures are not hidden—they are highlighted. Made radiant. More valuable for having been broken and repaired.
That’s what this season has been for me: a lesson in golden glue.
In failing fast, failing often, and still reaching for something sacred in the mess.
The pieces don’t fit the same anymore. I don’t either. But maybe that’s the point. Healing doesn’t ask me to return to who I was before. It asks me to honor who I’ve become because of the breaking.
If you’re in a similar place—if your own dreams are in pieces—this is your reminder: it’s okay to start over. It’s okay to rebuild slowly. You are not behind. You are becoming art.
Healing isn’t linear. It’s not Instagram-worthy. It’s gritty. It’s private. It’s full of failed attempts, regressions, and quiet victories. But each time we show up again—for ourselves, for our lives—we are healing. Not because we’re unbreakable, but because we choose to try even after breaking.
So if today feels like another day of starting over, you are not behind. You are brave. You are still healing. You are still showing up—and that’s everything.
Meditation: “Still I Rise” — A Practice for the Moments You Feel Broken
Duration: ~6-8 minutes
1. Grounding (1 min)
Sit or lie down in a comfortable position. Close your eyes. Take a deep breath in through your nose… and release slowly through your mouth. Feel your body settle into gravity. The earth is holding you.
2. Body Awareness (1-2 mins)
Scan your body from head to toe. Notice where you might be holding tension or grief. There’s no need to change anything. Just notice. Say silently: “I honor what I carry. I don’t need to fix it right now.”
3. Affirmation Breathwork (2-3 mins)
Breathe in: “I am here.”
Breathe out: “And that is enough.”
Breathe in: “Even broken, I am whole.”
Breathe out: “Even hurting, I am healing.”
Repeat as needed. Let the rhythm anchor you.
4. Closing Intention (1 min)
Place a hand on your heart. Whisper: “Even after breaking, I rise again. Slowly, softly, bravely.”
When you’re ready, open your eyes.
Journal Prompts: When You’re Tired But Still Trying
-
What does “breaking” mean for me right now? In what ways have I felt broken lately?
-
How have I continued to try, even in small ways?
-
What part of me needs the most gentleness today? How can I offer that to myself?
-
What does healing look like without pressure to “be better”?
-
Finish the sentence: “Even when I fall apart, I am still…”
As always, in kindness,
The Floral Goose
